My research focuses on understanding AI systems and developing better ways to evaluate and control their behavior. I believe that building more capable agents and understanding them better are mutually reinforcing goals; progress in one accelerates the other. This dual pursuit is motivated by scientific curiosity about learning and agency and by the practical need for safe, aligned AI.
